Mandarin Re Wins “Underwriting Initiative of the Year – Malaysia” at the 2025 Insurance Asia Awards

Mandarin Re has been awarded the Underwriting Initiative of the Year – Malaysia at the 2025 Insurance Asia Awards, held in Singapore on 8 July. The recognition marks a major milestone for the company, coinciding with its 10th anniversary and a decade of regional growth, innovation, and impact. 

In awarding Mandarin Re, Insurance Asia cited the company’s “dynamic and innovative force in Asia’s reinsurance industry,” noting its standout performance over the past two years. In 2024 alone, Mandarin Re recorded 25% growth in gross written premiums, reaching US$42 million—driven by disciplined underwriting, organic expansion, and new market entries in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Mandarin Re also reported a 95% client retention rate, underscoring its strong underwriting discipline and trusted partnerships. 

One of the key differentiators highlighted by the award panel was Mandarin Re’s strategic investment in risk management, capital adequacy, and regulatory compliance. The company’s formation of a dedicated regulatory affairs team enabled it to navigate Asia’s diverse regulatory environments with greater agility, while strengthening ties with local regulators and industry bodies.
