Mandarin Re Strengthens African Market Engagement at the 52nd AIO Conference in Cairo

Article

Mandarin Re participated in the 52nd African Insurance Organisation (AIO) Conference and Annual General Assembly, held from 5–9 June 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, bringing together more than 2,000 insurance and reinsurance professionals from over 57 countries.

The conference served as a key platform for industry leaders, regulators, insurers, reinsurers, and brokers to exchange insights on the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of insurance across Africa and beyond.

Representing Mandarin Re at the event were Chief Executive Officer, Redzal Mohamad, and Chief Sales Officer, Alexander Shakhmatov, who engaged with industry stakeholders, strengthened existing partnerships, and explored new opportunities for collaboration across the region.

The discussions throughout the conference highlighted important themes including strengthening intra-African trade, advancing continental market development, innovative approaches to agricultural insurance, and the role of insurance pools in addressing large-scale and systemic risks. Conversations also explored how life insurance can support long-term capital mobilisation, financial inclusion, and sustainable economic growth.

A key takeaway from the event was the importance of building growth that is both inclusive and sustainable. The conversations in Cairo reinforced the vital role of insurance and reinsurance in strengthening resilience, supporting businesses, and helping communities navigate emerging risks. Beyond the sessions, the conference created valuable opportunities to reconnect with industry peers, exchange perspectives, and build meaningful relationships across African and international markets.

Mandarin Re remains committed to supporting the development of insurance markets and delivering solutions that contribute to sustainable risk protection and economic progress.

A sincere thank you to the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) and the host nation for organising a successful and impactful event. The insights gained and connections made will continue to shape Mandarin Re’s engagement across the region.
