Mandarin Re Forges Strong Industry Ties at FIDES 2023

Mandarin Re actively participated in the Western Hemisphere Insurance Conference, better known as FIDES 2023, held from September 24th to 26th in the picturesque city of Rio de Janeiro. FIDES 2023, the largest insurance conference in Latin America, brought together around 2,000 participants, creating an exceptional environment conducive to networking and collaboration. 

Mandarin Re was represented by Ms Ivanisa Daqui (Underwriter) and Mr Sebastian Almeida (Representative of Latin America). They expressed their enthusiasm for the valuable collaboration and networking opportunities experienced over the three days in Rio. These meetings have enabled Mandarin Re to establish lasting connections and create synergies that will undoubtedly strengthen the company's presence in the industry.

The conference's central theme, "Insurance for a More Sustainable World," effectively encapsulated the pivotal significance of sustainability in the global insurance and reinsurance industry, highlighting the far-reaching impact these sectors can exert on the environment and society at large.

 This resonant message was echoed by the distinguished keynote speakers, who included prominent figures such as Tony Blair, the Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Paul Krugman, the Nobel laureate in Economics (2008); and Luis Alberto Moreno, the Former President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Their insights further underscored the theme's core principles.

 The conference's deliberations spanned a wide spectrum of critical issues, encompassing topics such as the protection gap, the escalating severity of climate-related damages, and the ramifications of demographic transitions on healthcare and pension systems. Collectively, these discussions illuminated the multifaceted challenges and opportunities facing the insurance and reinsurance sector in today's dynamic landscape.
